Scientist and professor Steven Starr believes the U.S. is already in a World War III situation.
“I think that we are in WWIII,” he told Hrvoje Moric of the “Geopolitics & Empire” podcast on Feb. 9. “I would say that we are already, but the real shooting between the U.S. and Russia – their military forces – haven’t started yet.”
According to Moric, the Russia-Ukraine war is a proxy war between the East and West. Russia and its allies, which represent the East, are going after the West in the form of the U.S. and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
“We are in a de facto nuclear WWIII scenario,” he said. “I continue to hear more and more forecasts by military and media from both sides discussing the inevitability of WWIII, tactical mini-nukes, red lines and so forth.”
Starr then remarked that the U.S. has been pushing the use of surveillance using satellites and Boeing E-3 Sentry planes to provide targeting information to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Had the U.S. and NATO refused to send weapons to Ukraine, the war would have ended a month after the Russians sent forces to the Donbas region in February 2022.
The expert on nuclear war added that hundreds of thousands have already been killed since the conflict began last year – a war crime in itself.
According to Starr, the U.S. and Russia have not yet started a direct military conflict. However, drone strikes had already happened twice at the Russian Engels-2 military air base. The coordinates of the air base, where Moscow stations its strategic nuclear bombers, came from U.S. satellites.
He mentioned that the incident can be considered an attack on Russian military installations, constituting an act of war even if the U.S. does not want it. Starr also remarked that he wouldn’t be surprised if America had supplied the drones to Ukraine as well.
According to the erstwhile director of the University of Missouri‘s clinical laboratory science program, the leaders of the federal government in Washington, D.C. are wrapped up in their own propaganda. They are uninformed about the realities of nuclear war and are too confident that they can win a nuclear war against Russia. “I can explain that they have no qualms about getting to the point where they put American and NATO military forces in western Ukraine because they think Russia won’t dare to attack them,” Starr said. “That’s when push might come to shove as far as the direct military conflict is concerned.”
Moric agreed with his guest’s remarks, calling British and American officials pushing for direct war with Russia as “crazy.”
